Transylvania 5th -Tour 2014- Romania

  Day 1: Bucharest
The first day of the circuit will start with a visit to the Romanian capital. No way to get to Bucharest and not visit the People’s House. Ceausescu’s former palace is now the Parliament building. Parliament House before the revolution known as the House of the Republic or People, measuring 270 m by 240 m, 86 m high and 92 m below ground. It has 1100 rooms, 12 levels and 8 ground surface. According to the World Records Academy, Parliament House is the largest civilian administrative building for use as the surface of the world’s most expensive administrative building in the world and the heaviest building in the world, falling three times in the record books.

After visiting the Palace of Parliament we will head to Mogosoaia palace built up in 1702 by Romanian Constantin Brancoveanu Renaissance architectural style or style brancovenesc a combination of elements Venetian with Ottoman.

 After the tour of Brancovenesc will tour the capital’s tourist bus occasion where we could find architectural jewels on the boulevards.

The evening will be spent in pure Romanian style , in one of the best restaurants in Bucharest, Caru ‘ cu Bere . A true living legend and also one of the oldest breweries in Bucharest was opened for the first time in 1879 in the old inn Zlatari and , after 20 years , moved to Stavropoleos Street , where you can meet today.
Stavropoleos Street Brewery is a place full of tradition where each object has its own story . It is one of the few places in Bucharest where it seems nothing has changed and the architecture reminds those who step into why Bucharest was once considered little Paris . Murals , stained glass and carved rails are distinctive elements of the brewery . Time party spirit is present today , the atmosphere reminding of Bucharest’s exuberance of the early twentieth century . Symbol place is Santa Ghita , whose silhouette guards today railing on the right. Santa Ghita , cellarman worked several decades at Caru cu bere , down the thousands and thousands of times in a basement crammed with barrels of beer and wine with his lantern nelipsitu .

Day 2: Bucharest – Sinaia – Brasov – Bran (180 km)
We visit Peles Castle in Sinaia, the summer residence of King Carol I.Construit 1866, Peles is a Neo-Gothic architecture and fantastic combination of German neo-Renaissance. In the castle are also found two other palaces, Pelisor and Gazebo. Pelisor exterior is made in Swiss style (chalet), and the interior was decorated using themes art nouveau, the desire of Queen Marie of Romania.


Tourist route will continue to Brasov where we stop to admire the medieval center. Crowded Market Hall is the focal point of the city and often outdoor stage. The market is the Evangelical Church of St. Mary, better known as the Black Church. Nickname comes from the fact that during the siege of Brasov by the Habsburgs in 1689, a terrible fire of the blackened walls of the church and took 3,000 casualties. In operation since 1383, the Black Church has become the banner of Protestantism in Transylvania in the XVth century.
A not to be missed weirdness lies north-east of the Black Church: Rope Street. With a width of between 111 and 135 cm, it is said to be the most narrow street in Europe.
From Brasov to Bran will continue our way, where is the famous Dracula Castle. We spend the night in Bran following the next morning to unveil the mysteries of Dracula’s Castle.

Day 3: Bran - Rasnov - Viscri - Saschiz - Sighisoara
The day will begin with a visit to Bran Castle, known as Dracula’s Castle. It fully deserves its reputation. Protection has vertical walls and towers sharp and few windows looked down on the village from tens of meters high.

Vlad’s history is shrouded in mystery and legend, and the truth is that nobody knows where the legend ends to leave room history. Being not only historically, but also literary and folk prince was chosen by writer Bram Stoker as the hero of his novel, appeared in 1897. Since then, Dracula and Transylvania, the land that houses the mysterious castle filled with ghosts and vampires somewhere in the dark forests, became the subject of over 750 films, documentaries and short stories inspired by the Irish writer’s novel.

 It is said that Vlad’s transformation into bloodthirsty Count Dracula is because, according to custom, at that time,the winner of a fight would satisfy their thirst by drinking the blood of the defeated. Could it be that the truth about Dracula? Legend or history? It remains to find visiting Transylvania!
We will continue our route through the beautiful Transylvanian peasant fortress Rasnov admiring. From here we start way fortified churches in Transylvania Rupea Viscri Saschiz that even Prince Charles of Great Britain admire them during his holidays in Romania, until we reach the citadel of Sighisoara

Day 4: Sighisoara - Biertan - Axente Sever - Sibiu .
We will spend the morning in the city of Sighisoara, visiting the birthplace of Vlad Tepes and admiring the architecture of the buildings. Heading towards Sibiu route we will stop to observe and photograph Biertan fortified churches and Axente Sever. In the evening we arrive in Sibiu where we stay then we will walk through the former European Capital of Culture.
Day 5: Sibiu - ASTRA Museum - Bucharest
This city is the heart of Transylvania Germany. Saxons known as Hermannstadt, lies on the site of one of the largest medieval fortresses in Romania. Formerly, the city was surrounded by three concentric rings of fortified walls. Some have survived, along with fascinating network of squares, ladders and towers dating from the thirteenth century and the eighteenth century.


Once we visited the historical center of Sibiu, we will head to the beautiful ASTRA Museum of Traditional Folk Civilization, located about 6.5 km from Sibiu, hidden in the woods Dumbravei. It is the largest open air museum in Romania, slightly wavy stretches over meadows, dotted with old trees, groves, lakes and ponds with boats. It is a perfect place for relaxation, where you can also learn Romanian traditional crafts such as wood carving, clay modeling, painting icons.
